Geotechnical Systems

Cellula Robotics has been working on rock-cutting robots for the terrestrial mining sector and the subsea excavation and trenching sectors since 2001. Projects include:

  • Geomarine Ltd. – design of a subsea shallow-water cable Trencher
  • Seafloor Geoservices Inc. – development of a drill-mud delivery and mixing system for remotely operated subsea coring drill
  • Geomarine Ltd. – conceptual design of custom subsea installation equipment
  • Perry Slingsby Systems Inc. – design and provision of robotic components for Rovdrill™ and Rovdrill™ M80 subsea coring drills
  • Perry Slingsby Systems Inc. – design and production analysis for rock-wheel integration to Canyon T750 Trencher
  • Nautilus Minerals Inc. – analysis of subsea rock-cutting data for sizing of robotic excavation equipment
  • Technip USA – conceptual design of subsea excavation equipment
  • Coanda Research and Development Corporation – assisted in the development of a slurry wear loop facility
  • Placer Dome Technical Services Ltd. – project management of a research and development project investigating the feasibility of subsea mining of seafloor massive sulphide (SMS) deposits
  • Placer Dome Technical Services Ltd. – project management and development of an instrumented robotic subsea rock-cutting excavator for sizing of robotic excavation equipment
